The Book Cake Tag

The Book Cake Tag was originally started on BookTube by Suddenlylorna. Basically they created a tag out of cake ingredients and made book related questions out of them. I love cake and books, so I thought this tag would be just the thing to do. As always if you’d like to do The Book Cake Tag consider yourself tagged. Tag – you are it. If you do the tag, share your cake in the comments, so I can check it out!

Book Cake Tag: The Ingredients

Flour – A book that was slow in the beginning, but then really picked up.

Everyone was raving endlessly about The Knife of Never Letting Go, so I finally picked it up last year. I had a really hard time getting into this book – the writing style is different and not my cup of tea. It took me ages to finish it. After I got use to the writing style it wasn’t too bad but it did not really pick up until the last quarter or so of the book. I probably will not continue the series even though the last bit did pick up.

Butter or Margarine – A book that has a really good rich plot.

The 5th Wave was the first alien type story that had me glued to the pages, I thought it was really intense and stressful. I can’t wait to dive into this world again. I really enjoyed this book!

Eggs – A book you thought you weren’t going to like but ended up loving.

I am a huge vampire (and witch) book fan. However, I wasn’t sure if I’d like The Coldest Girl in Coldtown. As much as I love my vampire books, they kinda get repetitive. But I ended up loving this book. I wouldn’t say it is my favorite vampire book of all time (ehm, The Immortal Rules), but it did not disappoint. This book has really mixed reviews. With vampire books, you either love ’em or hate ’em.

Sweet – A super sweet book.

I don’t really read many Contemporary books, and if I do I rarely finish them. They must have excellent writing and a great plot for me to be interested. However, The Fault in our Stars is one that I had no trouble finishing, and I believe it is a super sweet book(and sad!). I think The Fault in our Stars is the best Contemporary I have read thus far.

Icing – A book that covers everything you enjoy in a book (sad, funny, action,…etc.)

I know it says book, but I’m going to go with a series. The Immortal Rules series is in my top 3 favorite series of all time. This series really has all the ingredients a book needs. It is literally nonstop action and suspense with a character that is unbelievably witty. I want to read The Iron Fey series by Julie Kagawa because I loved these books so much. Sadly, that series has very mixed reviews, so I don’t know.

Sprinkles – A book that you can turn to to make you feel better.

I don’t know what it is about Harry Potter, but these books are just awesome and, well, magical. Even if you’ve read them over and over they do not get old. I find myself rereading the series every year or two.

Cherry on Top – The best book you’ve read so far this year.

The Mara Dyer trilogy has become one of my absolute favorites. I love the writing, but the suspense is really the best in this series. I enjoy books that mess with your head and aren’t predictable. I can not wait for book 3 this fall, I am dying to know what happens.
