#RockMyTBR Book and Song Tag

Learn more about the #RockMyTBR 2016 reading challenge HERE

This next year I’m going to be participating in the #RockMyTBR reading challenge created by Sarah K. at the YA Book Traveler! It looks like it will be a pretty chill challenge that will help me eliminate more books off Mount TBR. To get us all excited for the reading challenge, Sarah with the help of Rachel (@bargainsnbooks) and Mikayla (@rosieposiekayla) created a book tag! Each category is a song title! Each really quite clever. Sarah tagged me on Twitter but this tag is open to everyone who wants to do it. :)

Don’t forget to check back here on MONDAY DECEMBER 14TH! I’ll be posting my reading list for this challenge along with everyone else who is participating that day. :)

Now, on to the tag!

Rock My TBR Song and Book Tag

1. SMELL LIKE TEEN SPIRIT (Nirvana) – A Contemporary I Want to Read

I STILL haven’t read this book. I don’t know why I haven’t. I am ashamed of myself. This year. This year I will rectify this.

Six of Crows (Six of Crows, #1)
2. SHUT UP AND DANCE (Walk to the Moon) – Most Anticipated Book You Have

I know! I know! The stars just weren’t in alignment this year so I was never able to fit it in to my reading schedule. It’s totally going to happen in the first few weeks of January though!

Heart's Blood
3. CENTURIES (REMIX) (Fall Out Boy) – A Twist on a Classic or Fairy Tale

I haven’t ever read a Juliet Marillier book which is sad because this book has been on my shelf for like five years now! It’s fitting that my first Marillier book would be a retelling of Beauty and the Beast!

Fuzzy Nation
4. YOSHIMI BATTLES THE PINK ROBOT (The Flaming Lips) – A Science Fiction Book or a Book Set in the Future

It seems appropriate that I chose one of the two John Scalzi books on my TBR for this question. I adored his Redshirts book and I’m super excited to read this one! I’ve heard nothing but great things about it!

Etiquette & Espionage (Finishing School, #1)
5. SHE LOOKS SO PERFECT (5 Seconds of Summer) – A Book with a Girl on the Cover

I know. I know. You’re all thinking : “Jessie! You love Gail Carriger! Why haven’t you read this series yet?” Well, I’ve been waiting for all four books to be out so I can binge read them. It’s a lame reason but I couldn’t handle the wait between books. Now, it is time to read all the books!

Newt's Emerald
6. AFRICA (Toto) – A Book Set in a Foreign Country

A Regency romance with magic by one of my favorite authors? Sign me up! It’s also set in England which makes it even more awesome! :)

Grave Phantoms (Roaring Twenties, #3)
7. ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST (Queen) – A Book or Books That Will Complete a Series

I adored the first two books in this series and I was super excited for this one! Unfortunately, it got buried on Mount TBR and forgotten about. These things do happen sometimes. I’m definitely going to read it this next year! I NEED TO READ BO AND ASTRID’S STORY!!! Also, slow clap for the publisher actually putting an Asian model on the cover for an Asian love interest.

Royal Street (Sentinels of New Orleans, #1)
8. SOMEONE NEW (Hozier) – A Book by an Author You Haven’t Read Yet

I have been collecting this series for a couple years now. It sounds like an amazing urban fantasy series set in New Orleans! I think it’s finally time to read a Suzanne Johnson book.

The Girl at Midnight (The Girl at Midnight, #1)
9. HELLO (Adele) –  A Book your DNF or Weren’t in the Mood for at the Time

hides from Sarah I started this book but only got a few chapters in before I set it down. I just wasn’t in the mood for it when I picked it up. I’m still interested in reading it at some point.

These Broken Stars (Starbound, #1)
10. LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT (Kylie Minogue)– A Book You Bought Because of the Cover

This cover caught my eye in the bookstore and then I became even more enamored with it when I read the synopsis. I’ve heard nothing but amazing things about it! And now that all three books are out and in my possession, I can binge read them all. :)

  1. Great! These are gorgeous books. The new versions of them bring me a new wind to gather to improve the number of my book collection and enjoy them myself.

  2. […] already a buddy reading group forming for Newt’s Emerald just from the #RockMyTBR book tag posts from the last couple weeks. But I’m completely open for more buddy reads! Do we have […]

  4. GURL!!! Your blog is GORGEOUS!!!! And to be fair, I listened to The Girl at Midnight on audiobook so maybe that’s why I loved it so much, not sure. It takes a while for the world to build but it gets so good! ;)

Also, Newt’s Emerald is on my list, we should buddy read it! :)

The blog design is all Samantha. I just blog here. :)

I might have to try the audiobook for The Girl at Midnight. I liked the writing but I think I just wasn’t in the mood for it when I read it.

I’m all for a buddy read of Newt’s Emerald! We need to make this happen!

      1. I think there is a part in the beginning of TGAM that does make it take a bit to get into. But if you get over that hurdle, you might like it. I ended up loving it more than I thought I was going when I first started.

The Newt book does look good. I haven’t read it yet because right when I was going to I heard several unhappy reviews about it and I got scared away for a bit.

And didn’t everyone buy These Broken Stars for the cover? I’d kill (figuratively, of course) to have that preorder poster and complete my collection.
